HowSociable is an application for measuring a brand’s web visibility. It is a very basic tool for a snapshot of a brand’s visibility on several Internet social venues.
HowSociable is a product of Inuda Technology.
HowSociable checks for instances of mentions of websites or brands across several popular social media platforms as well as applications within those platforms. For example: Facebook groups, apps, and people.
The app is extremely simple, with only the need to enter the search terms – either a brand name or website – and click “measure visibility”. The results are sorted by social media channel. An overall visibility score is also listed, but with nothing to measure it against. YouTube, Facebook Pages, Ning, Xing, and many other social media outlets are represented on the results page. Clicking on a result will open a new window with a detailed list of results from the source selected.
Each social media application in the results offers a score that is not directly correlated to the number of mentions. How these scores are determined and how they are then calculated to find the total visibility score is not offered. Again, with nothing to compare these scores to, they are relatively meaningless.
One problem is that there is no ability to filter by date. Results appear to be simply cumulative, but with no start date. This makes the app unwieldy and not as helpful as it could be.
No registration is necessary to use the application.
Right now, HowSociable is free to use. A Pro version is being developed with additional features and will be fee-based. New features will include PDF export of information, brand comparison capabilities, realtime visibility scores, and historical data. There is no indication of pricing.
Right now, without the ability to filter by date, having only the generic visibility score to monitor, this application has little real value. It also suffers from the inability to add or eliminate to the search in the event of more than one result being found for a “brand”.
