Google Spreadsheets is an online spreadsheet editor.
What is the history and popularity of the application?
Google Spreadsheets was launched in June, 2006. In October 2006, Google Spreadsheets was merged with Writely, an online word editor, into a single product: Google Docs. Since than Google Spreadsheets shares the control panel with the word processor Google Documents. Spreadsheets are automatically saved to the Google servers during editing. Spreadsheets can be shared with people you invite, collaborative editing is possible in real time. Microsoft Excel files can be imported into the service without a problem. Spreadsheets can be saved to the harddisk of your PC as a PDF file or in Excel format.
What are the differences to other applications?
It's free! Excel files attached to emails in your Gmail box can be opened directly and online with Google Spreadsheets.
How does the application look and feel to use?
Google Spreadsheets has the clean "Google look". The service works like a charm and to prevent data loss the spreadsheet is saved automatically every few seconds to the Google server.
How does the registration process work?
You can sign in with a Google Account which can be used for all Google services.
What does it cost to use the application?
Google Spreadsheets standard edition is free to use. Google Spreadsheets is available as a part of the Google Apps suite for business use. Google Apps costs $50 dollar per user account per year.
