GlobeTrooper offers users a way to find travel partners and plan exciting trips. The system works by giving users the ability to post a trip or respond to one another user posted. Users can submit all the details, from the starting and ending point and all in between to estimated costs, dates, times, and the type of participants they are searching for. Other users can read these and decide whether or not they want to sign up and travel as a pair or group. Some entries are designed by people who are or want to be travel guides for visitors. In other cases, it could be a matter of someone who is going solo and wants some company. Users can discover new trip ideas, create their own desired trip and see if anyone will join them, or sign up to accompany someone else. Trips vary dramatically, from luxury stays to months-long camping jaunts across Europe.
GlobeTrooper was created in 2010. The site is based on the concept that travel is an important part of life because experience is important. We learn through experience, and by traveling, users can experience different cultures, people, and situations. The GlobeTrooper team includes Lauren McLeod and Todd Sullivan, two travel minded individuals who wanted to make it easier for others to plan a journey and see the world.
Travelers cannot explore the internet far without running across a travel themed website. These sites often provide information and discounts, but little else. GlobeTrooper helps users create a trip that fits their situation and financial requirements. Users can hook up with other people from all over the world and come together to experience new places together. It’s a unique concept that can lead to many memorable vacations.
The GlobeTrooper websites entices users to explore the world. The scrolling banner image features panoramic images from many different locations. White sandy beaches, gently rippling waters and ships, even pyramids and desert ruins are seen sliding by as the user browses the site. Finding a trip or creating one is very simple. Navigational tabs across the top of the homepage provide further assistance with access to travel resources, trip ideas, the GlobeTrooper blog, and more.
New users can join GlobeTrooper by clicking on the hanging green tab at the top right hand corner of the homepage. This takes the user to the registration form. The bottom includes a small blue button for those who prefer to login using an existing Facebook account. Otherwise, the user can fill out the brief form, which requires a display name, email address, password and home country. After entering the information, the user can click the green “Register” button at the bottom to finish.
Anyone can join GlobeTrooper for free. There are no subscription fees or fees for participating in trips. Of course the user will have to pay for accommodations, food, travel and anything else that they need while they are away. However, while searching for a travel partner or posting a trip, the user does not have to pay GlobeTrooper. The system works on good faith, so the user is not obligated to travel even if they sign up for a trip.
Users searching for a way to find a fellow travel partner or plan their dream trip can really enjoy GlobeTrooper. The site is easy to use and helps users connect with others, both tour guides or regular people who also want to travel.
