Gigbot is a website for listing and promoting events such as concerts.
Gigbot was founded by Sean Porter in 2003. It was recently purchased by Ticketfly.
Gigbot does its best to be cutting edge, funny, and hip. The problem with this is that it undermines the usability of the site. The About Us page yields some interesting photos and email addresses with the descriptors “making it pretty” and “speaking in code” which does not enlighten users at all. “How this Party Got Started” leads to a rambling story of finding a robot.
The application is clunky to use. Very limited results for test area entered even though there are several major venues in this location. Users may suggest venues.
Upon checking “Your Gigstream”, a suggestion to follow some people was made, but no directions were provided on how to do so.
Overall, the site is not user friendly, nor does it provide extensive listings for all areas.
Users must provide a screen name, full name, password, email, and provide email preferences. Mobile phone number and personal website link are optional. Account activation email is necessary to complete registration.
The site is free to use, but venue owners can pay for a Pro membership. Pricing is available upon request.
This site is very difficult to use and has very limited listings. It is questionable whether people will find any useful information beyond the humor.
