One of the biggest hindrances when getting fit is time. Many people feel they have no free time to fit a workout in their day. Gain Fitness was created to help users figure out a better way to work out in smaller chunks. The user can put in just as much time, but fit it in throughout the day in a way that suits their schedule. Gain Fitness also helps users discover new ways to work out that allow them to adapt to their surroundings. For example, it might not be feasible to head home for a five or ten minute workout. Instead, users can find ways to work out around the office. Gain Fitness helps users develop a progressive fitness plan that works with their schedule rather than against it. This gives the individual a better opportunity to adhere to their workout schedule and a greater chance for success in the long term.
Gain Fitness was founded in November of 2009. It was intended to give users a personalized exercise that fit their individual needs and situation. The Gain Fitness team is based out of San Francisco, California and currently consists of around five individuals including founders Nick Gammell and Sam Morrell as well as Lead Software Engineer Dereck Rasmusseh and User Experience Lead Robert Bailey.
The internet includes many resources related to fitness, however most of these are purely informational. Gain Fitness is a functional tool that allows the user to manage their schedule and their work out. Rather than only telling a user to work out, Gain Fitness teaches them ways to fit it into their daily schedule, no matter where they are throughout the day.
The Gain Fitness website utilizes a professional grey and orange color scheme that has a very refreshing quality to it. Users observe images of individuals in mid-workout as they learn about the application’s capabilities. The user is given an easy to use interface that allows them to enter personal body information, such as location (gym or home), goal and work out focus.
Gain Fitness is currently in an alpha status, so there is no official log in available yet. On the homepage, a new user can enter their email address in the field provided at the bottom, center of the page to become a beta tester when the time comes. Another button along the right side of the homepage allows the user to try Gain Fitness. Doing so lets the user build a single workout utilizing the Gain system. Creating a personal work out requires work out time, location, goal, focus and terms and conditions agreement.
Gain Fitness has a lot of potential to help many people get fit. The application is still in an alpha status with no indication of when it will enter beta. The site currently does not provide any information regarding pricing or what Gain Fitness membership plans will include. In time this will likely be updated, so it is safe to assume that the application will come at a price once it is fully released. For the time being, users can register to be a beta tester for free.
Gain Fitness has some potential to help many people find a work out schedule that can handle. The system is easy to understand, although it still has a ways to go before it is fully released.
