FriendBet is a startup based in London and Paris. It was founded in 2009 by Timothée Luneau (CEO) and Charles-Antoine Idrac (CTO) with the goal of creating a social betting network. Their vision is based on the fact that betting is a very social activity. They created FriendBet with the idea that it should be easy to manage bets with friends and colleagues.

What are the differences to other apps?

The standout feature of FriendBet is the fact that users are betting against friends instead of using bookmakers. It’s a social network betting site.

The home screen is uncluttered. The help section makes reference to a FAQ section, but there does not appear to be a FAQ to walk users through the process of betting. Fortunately, it is quite intuitive and users should have no difficulty in working through it.

Users must have a Facebook account to connect with FriendBet during the beta phase. By clicking on the “Connect with Facebook” link, users are redirected to Facebook to permission and access to the application. Once completed, users are asked whether they wish to make a deposit and earn a £10 bonus.

Users must deposit funds to cover bets. FriendBet takes 6% of the pot before winnings are claimed. Bets are allowed between £1 and £25. A maximum deposit into an individual’s account is £100.
