What can you use the application for?
Flickr is a photo sharing site where users upload shots they have taken and add information to them. This information can consist of tags detailing what the photo is about or so called geo-tags which show where the photo was taken.
What is the history and popularity of the application?
Flickr was launched by Ludicorp in February 2004. It was originally a chatroom with photo-sharing for their upcoming 'Game Neverending' application. It became very popular, so they shelved the game and focused on online photo sharing instead. In March 2005 Flickr was bought by Yahoo and was integrated in the Yahoo site.

Flickr is the most popular photo sharing website and because of this there are a lot of other services that interact with it. It is easy to add Flickr photos to your blog or to print them.
How does the application look and feel to use?
For a site which is based on pretty pixels Flickr needs to look good. It certainly does and is easy to use. Uploading pictures is a breeze and there is a simple but effective upload speed indicator.
How does the registration process work?
To use the site you need to get a Yahoo ID. This requires a long signup where you need to give your name, gender, birthdate and a security question. An alternative email address is optional.
What does it cost to use the application?
Flick comes with a 100MB per month upload limit. There is no storage limit. If you pay $24.95 dollar per year you can get a Pro account that is unlimited except for a 10MB per photo restriction.
Who would you recommend the application to?
Flickr is a great way to share your pictures and to enjoy other people's pictures. The upload limit of the free account can be a bit low if you upload a lot high resolution photo's but for casual sharing Flickr is ideal.
