FiveSprockets is a media production and screenwriting software solution for creative individuals. Users can utilize FiveSprockets as their virtual production studio. The application starts from step one, with story development tools. Users can then move on to pre-production and production. Five Sprockets continues along with feature to assist with post production, marketing and distribution. Users can also collaborate on group projects, properly format scripts, promote themselves and locate work through the Five Sprockets job board. The site also offers an interactive element through the Five Sprockets forums which invite users to ask questions and discuss each sprocket (or part of the production and development process). Users can also discuss festivals and conventions or get help through the support forum. Five Sprockets also includes a small store that appears to sell informational products, although this area of the site does not seem to be ready to go yet.

FiveSprockets was founded in 2007 as a studio resource for the average person. Users can work through the five stages of media production with the guidance and tools offered on Five Sprockets. The company current consists of around ten individuals including Rachel Kay who handles public relations. FiveSprockets is based out of San Diego, California.

FiveSprockets is a unique application that offers a service that is not easy to find. Users can work through the entire creative process, from story development through production and marketing with the help of FiveSprockets. The site includes a forum so users can interact and receive assistance from other real people who are also working through the same process.

Although the FiveSprockets logo and green color scheme are eye-catching, many areas of the site are nothing to write home about. The homepage features a green navigation bar so users can find the forums, job board, projects and other resources. Some pages, like the store page, appear to be only half done with little information and no functional links. There are a few advertisements found throughout the site, but this is understandable given the free nature of the application.

FiveSprockets makes registration easy for new users. Visitors who arrive at the FiveSprockets homepage can find the short registration form located along the right hand side. The first form requires a first and last name and email address. After submitting the information, the user is taken to the larger form which automatically fills in the previous fields. The user is asked to provide a password, age verification (users must be at least 13 years of age or older) and optional interests. A check box at the bottom of the form is automatically selected to sign the user up for the Five Sprockets newsletter. This must be manually unchecked to opt out of email updates.

The cost of FiveSprockets makes the site even more appealing to creative individuals that may not have many financial resources. Anyone can enjoy the benefits of FiveSprockets for free. There are no subscription fees or other charges for using the site. The site includes a store, which could lead to money spent but for the time being this portion of the site seems to be out of commission.

FiveSprockets is intended for screenwriters and those working or planning to work on a media production. The site provides a number of resources, including a helpful forum. Users can also review the job board and build properly formatted scripts.
