What is the history and popularity of the application?
Eventful was launched in January, 2004 by Brian Dear as EVDB, Inc. He created such a service because he felt that there is really a need for something like this on the web. They currently have around five million users.
What are the differences to other applications?
Eventful is quite often confused as an event planning site which it is not. Eventful is different from other event planning websites on the net. It does nothing to help one arrange an event but its work is limited to providing information about what is happening where and when. It provides a list of upcoming events from which the users can decide where they wish to go and then tell their friends about them. So, the planning part rests on the users only.
How does the application look and feel to use?
Eventful appears to be just like any other site on the net. There's nothing great about the look or designing. It has a white background on which the text appears in blue and black. The logo 'eventful' appears in plain text on the top left corner in blue and green. The site is simple to navigate. There are spaces for ads on the site.
How does the registration process work?
In order to create, find or share events and receive notifications of favorite events, one has to sign up. The registration process is not very lengthy. One needs to provide basic information such as email, city, country and date of birth only. This brings one to his/ her home page. Once there, users can search for friends, track events, demand performances of their favorite artists, edit profile or join a group.
What does it cost to use the application?
Eventful is a free web service. Since beginning the company has successfully raised a financing of $10 million. Some of it prominent investors include the likes of Esther Dyson, Evan Williams along with Mark Pincus, Josh Kopelman, Bay Partners and Omidyar network. It earns from advertising also.
