What can you use the app for?

eSnips is a simple service that gives each user up to 5 GBs of free space to store images, videos and other files. Users can visit the eSnips website and search for specific items uploaded by others. The homepage also presents a list of tags that can be clicked to find all items assigned to that keyword. Featured files are showcased on the homepage along with the author’s name and how many plays or views the item has received. A simple driver update feature is also included on the homepage for Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP or 2000 operating systems. An eSnips blog feed is presented to help newcomers stay informed on recent changes and updates. eSnips is also available for mobile devices.

What is the history and popularity of the app?

eSnips is based out of Herzliya Pituach, Israel. The company currently consists of fewer than 20 individuals, including CEO Kobi Marenko. The application was intended to provide users with a convenient media dashboard that gave the user the flexibility to express themselves with the help of digital content. The application currently manages many file types, including audio, video, picture, PDF, flash files, Zip and RAR files.

What are the differences to other apps?

There are many file storage websites available today. eSnips is focussing on expression through digital media. Each user is given their own space and dashboard to upload their favorite images, videos and other files to their account. The eSnips community can browse each collection to find others that they may like.

How does the web app look and feel to use?

The eSnips welcomes users with a fun color scheme that feature vibrant blue, orange and grey. The stylish eSnips logo includes a sideways lowercase “e” laying on its face beside the word “Snips” in white. A search tool bar is presented at the top, center of the homepage with a filter that allows the user to search through specific files types, such as images, videos and more. The blog feed can be found along the right hand side, just under the light blue tag links. The center, left side presents thumbnail images for each featured file. The site is slow and full of ads. There are better sites to share your files.

How does the registration process work?

A new user can join the eSnips community by clicking the white “Sign Up” link in the upper, right hand corner of the homepage. Doing so takes the user to the registration form, which requires an email address and password. The user must also enter the code presented at the bottom of the form to complete registration. A small check box at the bottom of the form must be checked to confirm the user’s agreement with the eSnips terms and conditions. A blue Facebook button is also presented in the upper, right hand corner of the homepage for users who prefer to sign in that way.

What does it cost to use the application?

All users are invited to join the eSnips community for free. There are no subscription fees or other charges for doing so. The user only has to sign up to access their 5 GBs of space. The site does not currently offer a premium paid membership with no indication that this will change anytime soon.

Who would you recommend the application to?

eSnips.com is aimed at anyone who loves digital media. The site gives users a place to showcase their favorite videos, audio clips, images and other types of files. Anyone can sign up for free. We don't recommend the site because it is not user friendly.

  • Upload up to 5 GBs of videos, images, audio files and other files

Don't use the f---g eSnips-server!!! I don't have a real permissions to delete my files & folders: "Critical error Directory is not writable, files can't be deleted /esnips/central/users" But this is my directory with my files!!!

BEWARE: eSnips has virtually pirated all owner content and has disabled the ability of users to delete their own images and folders if they so desire. When users attempt to delete their folders, an automated popup box states "Directory is not writable; files cannot be deleted." Furthermore, one cannot even contact the company via the eSNIPs "Contact us" page. This is, of course, in violation of international copyright laws. Mr. Marenko is owner of the holding company that owns eSNIPs. I have sent Mr. Marenko several communiques to notify him of this situation. As of 2/19/2012, Mr. Marenko has not responded to multiple requests to configure capabilities that allow eSnips users to have full control over their folders.
