DoneCal is a very easy calendar program with limited functionality.

The application is very new and is asking for feedback from users. New features are voted on and considered for implementation. There is no historical or statistical data available.

This is a very plain app that is too nondescript. Improvement of explanatory information, Help, and home page are needed.

The first impression of the site is that it is disconcerting. The home page tells nothing about the application and simply shows the current monthly calendar. Options to scroll through months or change to weekly or daily view are available. An option to login and sign up are in small print in the upper right corner. An option to watch a video tutorial is offered, but again, with no name on the site or anything, many users may click away not knowing what it is. Once logged in, the tutorial is hidden in the About section, under Help. The video is informative, but the audio is difficult to hear.

After registration, through trial and error, it was discovered that users must “Change your settings” to begin. This creates the first calendar. Entries cannot be entered by time on the monthly page. Timed entries must be created on the daily page. Sharing one’s calendar is offered through providing a “read only” link to others.

DoneCal offers tagging to organize events into categories. Bookmarklet integration offers a way to enter items without opening DoneCal. There is no way to import existing calendars from other programs.

Users can login with Google or create a new account. New accounts require email, password, first and last names. Registration takes users to a page with options to change settings, share calendar or get a report. No calendar, no directions, and still no application name.

DoneCal is free to use.

Right now this app needs beta testing and a major facelift. Until then it is not recommended.
