Cloudo is a helpful solution that allows users to access a computer from anywhere. Rather than keeping the desktop on the actual machine, Cloudo users can make it accessible from any computer with internet access. They simply log into their Cloudo account and can access files they may have forgotten to forward or check up on their work schedule without actually going to their work computer. Cloudo is also available on mobile phones for access almost anywhere. Cloudo can also be used to assist with collaboration among users. Files and images can be shared. Users can even set up joint Cloudo accounts so that multiple people can access the same desk top. Cloudo is also an open platform which means users can easily create applications using Cloudo that are tailored to their own specific needs.
Cloudo entered its alpha status in February of 2008. It is an Ajax-based application that focuses on perfecting the virtual desk top. The company behind Cloudo was founded in Stockholm, Sweden in 2006 by Hakan Bilgin, Ola Persson, Ted Persson and Fredric Gunnarson. Today, Ted Persson is CEO, Ola Persson is the team’s Experience Director while Gunnarson is chairman and Bilgin is System Architect. Additional team members include CEO Linda Norrstrand, Art Director Fredrik Karlsson and developer Selim Cotal.
Cloudo is unique for a couple of reasons. First, it gives users a great deal of flexibility in terms of desk top access. Users can share files or build a shared virtual desk top that they access with others. Cloudo is also an open platform that allows developers to create customized tools that meet their needs.
Cloudo welcomes users with a very modernized, sleek appearance. A majority of the pages include a deep, black background with a metallic looking cloud logo. The application literally looks just like an actual desk top, so users can easily find what they need using a familiar environment.
Cloudo is currently in beta and is available publicly for a limited time. No solid end date has been provided, so users should crate an account quickly to ensure that they get access. To begin, users can click the black “Sign Up” link at the top of the homepage. Another browser appears with a log in box. A dark grey tab at the bottom of the form allows the user to access the account creation form. After clicking the tab, the box smoothly transforms into the registration form. The form asks for a name, email address, username and password. After submitting the information, the user is taken directly to their new Cloudo desk top.
Cloudo is currently available to anyone for free. There is no subscription fees or other charges for creating an account and using the application. It is still in beta so this could change at any time. There is no further information regarding a paid premium membership option. For now, anyone can create a Cloudo account for free.
Cloudo is a very helpful tool for anyone who might need to access a work, school or home desk top while they are away. The tool can be a life saver for some, who might need to access files, schedules, images or anything else they keep on a computer. The joint account option is great for teams of individuals who work together and use the same files.
