CalendarGod

Published 01/26/2011 and rated Ratingstars3 3 out of 5 stars by AppAppeal Editor
What can you use the app for?

CalendarGod gives users the opportunity to become a local calendar god in their community. Users can follow other users and calendars that they find interesting, or post their own for others to follow. The site is focused on creating a central location for the world’s public calendars. Users can see what is going on in their local area and review calendars with a theme, such as music, sports, film, arts, family, entertainment, literary talks, local, health, stage, classes, self discovery and more. CalendarGod can help people stay informed of events they may wish to participate in that are going on in their local area each month.

What is the history and popularity of the app?

CalendarGod was launched in September of 2010. Based out of London, the team consists of less than five individuals, including CEO Leon Crutchley, CTO Harsh Waghmare and Developers Vinod Varma and Nima Sharafeddin. The site has received financial backing in the form of seed funding received in July of 2010. Calendar God is still in beta.

What are the differences to other apps?

Most schedule related websites focus on helping individuals and professionals manage their own calendars. Few offer tools that allow users to maintain and review community calendars. Calendar God allows users to become a “calendar god” for their local community. Users can maintain calendars or search for those posted by others. Users can even gain a following by posting interesting event calendars.

How does the web app look and feel to use?

Calendar God entices users with a playful orange logo and well organized site design. The rest of the site consists of light and dark blue, white and hints of orange here and there. The contrast is very appealing, giving the site an original feel. User can build profiles complete with a photograph or avatar image. The site also contains almost no clutter, which is another big plus. The homepage also features a live feed so users can see recent calendar additions.

How does the registration process work?

Visitors can register for Calendar God by clicking on the orange “Join Us” tab at the top, right hand corner of the homepage. A second button is also available just beside the tab that allows users to register through Facebook. The registration form requires a calendar name, email address, invitation code and password. If the user does not have an invitation code, they can click the black “here” link in the green box just above the registration form to request one. Users should note that requesting an invitation code can take some time. An account is required to do anything on the website, even search for calendars.

What does it cost to use the application?

Calendar God does not require any fees or subscription costs to create an account. Users can access the site and add calendars or search for those posted by other users. The site requires a log in to do anything, so users will have to wait for their invitation code. Calendar God is still in beta, so this could change in the future. For now, the price of Calendar God is perfect to encourage users to participate and get others involved.

Who would you recommend the application to?

Calendar God is a site for anyone who loves local events and scheduling. The site allows users to build up a reputation for posting the most interesting events and maintaining their calendars. Users can also follow others to discover new things going on within their local community.
