Blogged.com is an online social network and blogging directory. The site contains a database of over 200,000 blogs, and allows users to easily share stories they find with their network of friends. Users can use the site to follow the blogs they like to read and discover new ones. Bloggers can also use the site to see who is reading their blogs and interact with them. Users have a Home page, from which they can access the current Top Stories, Hot Topics, Blogs they are following and My Blogs, which gives a summary of activity from any blogs the user owns. Other sections of the site include Chatter, where users can see what their Friends are discussing or a stream of the entire site's discussions, Profile, where the user can change their profile settings, and Follow Blogs, where users can see a summary of the blogs they are following or a summary of the blogs their friends are following. There is also a Find People section, where users can find friends and people to follow, an Inbox, which gives the user access to the site's messaging features and Settings, where the user can control their settings for the site. Users can also see which other users are following them and view the profiles of those users. Southern California-based Blogged.com was launched in 2008. Competition to Blogged.com comes from sites such as BlogCatalog and Blogging Fusion. Both of these sites offer blog directories similar to Blogged.com, but neither has the heavy emphasis on social networking and blogging. BlogCatalog is more of a traditional directory, while Blogging Fusion offers some social networking features such as easy sharing of blog posts found by users. Some features take several seconds to load, such as looking at Blogs Followed, Followed and Followers. Navigation is intuitive, with a convenient top menu bar shown on all pages of the site. Clicking on a section in the menu bar brings up another top menu bar with additional choices for that section. Features such as commenting and messaging work quite well. The site makes it easy to comment on or share any post on the site. There is no advertising displayed on the Blogged.com site. Registration to Blogged.com is free and is required to use the social networking features of the site. The registration process asks for first and last name, email address and password. Validation of the email address is required. There is no premium membership offered to the site, and registered users have access to all features of the site. Blogged.com is recommended to anyone who follows more than a few blogs. It provides a convenient tool for following all the user's blogs in one place. In addition, the site makes sharing blogs and blog posts with the user's friends and colleagues an easy task. The site also makes it easy to see what is currently hot news in the world of blogging and to interact with bloggers. Unfortunately the Blogged.com community is not very active and the website is very slow.
