Bing is a new search engine developed by Microsoft which is based on technology acquired from Farecast and Powerset which were both acquired by Microsoft. New Algorithms are also used to enhance the search results. The main reason for creating the Bing brand was to prevent people getting confused about what Windows Live is. Windows Live used to be used for search engines which was causing confusion over what windows live was. Bing uses technology acquired from Powerset and Farecast and also uses new algorithms. The search engine is in a partnership with Twitter to include tweets next to search results. Microsoft claims that this gives users better results. Bing is pretty much the same as any search engine and while it is memorable it’s unlikely that it will ever be able to replace Google as the major search engine in the world. Bing is free for anyone to use and is supported by adverts in a similar way to any other internet search engine. This isn’t a bad thing because the adverts are quite subtle and don’t get in the way. The adverts are also tailored to your search results which make them interesting. Bing is a reliable and trustworthy search engine which is ideal for anyone to use. It’s not really any different to any other search engine and so which one you decide to use is completely up to you.
