What can you use the app for?

Bēhance is an application for Creative Professionals to create, maintain, and share online portfolios. Members may also connect with other creatives within the platform. Jobs are listed and links are provided. Other users may browse the galleries and offer support via “appreciate” tabs.

What is the history and popularity of the app?

Bēhance was founded in 2007 by Scott Belsky, who serves as the company’s CEO. The site has won several Internet awards and has been featured in many tech publications. Belsky has authored a book called “Making Ideas Happen” about making a vision into a reality. A recent collaboration with LinkedIn allows users to connect Bēhance portfolios with LinkedIn accounts.

What are the differences to other apps?

Bēhance is a free network for creative professionals to host an unlimited amount of work online. By teaming with several business partners, creative people gain exposure and improve their chances for securing new clients.

How does the web app look and feel to use?

Users may browse the works by creative field or other defined filters. Each artist’s work may be “appreciated” by clicking a link at the end of the work. The interface is clean and uncluttered, offering a good portfolio space for each member.

Members may upload text, images, videos, and audio into portfolios. There are no limits on the number of projects or uploads. Integration with Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn allows members to self-promote through social media. Users may choose to use an ad-free view for content. Groups are available for connecting with other members and to ask questions and offer advice. Job postings are available for review on the site, which states that it is frequented by recruiters and creative companies. Members, once approved, may complete a detailed profile including compensation requirements, type of work, and more.

How does the registration process work?

Users choose to open an account as a creative professional or follower of people’s work. Followers need only provide a name to be added to a url, an email to be used as username, and password. These users must then add a profile image, first and last name, company name, url, twitter name, brief bio, and a list of three creative interests.

Members wanting to be listed as a creative professional create an account that begins with an application. A valid email address and description of creative work is the first step of this process. The user must then await a review of their application and invitation from Bēhance. During review, response to request was received with 24 hours with a link to create a profile.

What does it cost to use the application?

There is no cost associated with Bēhance.

Who would you recommend the application to?

Creative professionals in arts, videography, advertising, design, crafts, writing, and other areas could benefit from a free account on Bēhance. Companies and individuals seeking creative skills may view portfolios and contact members for jobs.

I agree with dee your answer for the two stars given is the subjective response of some emotive feeling that lacks any criteria and analytic counterpoint. You do not have a rational which is consistent with your mildly tempered and up beat review. Instead it all equates to a whim that the site feels like two stars, very professional.

So then why bother? It seems like you don't know why you gave it two stars, you just did. Senseless.

Thank you for your comment. We base our star rating on the impression an application makes on us and whether we would recommend it to a friend. It is hard to quantify this impression with obvious benefits or drawbacks, a good user experience is more art then science.

Your review seems very positive, why then are you giving it only 2 stars out of 5?
